Riktenstein – Musician & Audio Engineer

Riktenstein is the creative musical mind behind the space-themed tunes that have become a hallmark of the hugely popular YouTube channel Astrobiscuit. Known for blending cosmic ambient vibes, outrageous beats and classical reworks, his music has been listened to by millions of viewers. So much so, that they requested that he sell the music – and the Astrobiscuit soundtracks were born.

THE EARLY YEARS

Roland Corp kick starts his career

Rik started his musical career off when he won the Roland Groovebox championships in 1999 and 2000 with musical instrument company Roland Corp. He had to perform a unique song written on the Roland MC303 Groovebox and perform it live at Mr C's prestigious nightclub, The End. Judged by DJ Sasha and DJ Pierre, Rik took first prize, winning lots of Roland goodies.

First Sound FX CD for multi-media

In 2000, Rik, along with sound-designer Rob Bridgett, released the first SFX CD for web-designers and sound-designers.

Keyboard Magazine said this:

"I had a great time and got some inspiring results by programming clicky yet funky little beats in Reason using a few iFX Matinée "Button Push," "Mechanical," and "Rollover" samples... This is inspired stuff." - KEYBOARD Magazine

Audio engineer

After working at De Lane Lea, Goldcrest Films and the Sound Company (London), in 2011, Rik became the head of audio for the Discovery channel, working on their most popular TV shows, like Deadliest Catch, Salvage Hunters, Bear Grylls and many, many more. His music also appeared in shows such as Paranormal Lockdown and How The Universe works, and he played the piano for the Richard Hammond Promo – Big.

When Covid hit, it became clear that so many big jobs could now be completed in a remote environment. So Rik took the decision to go freelance.
